News from High Point Furniture Market

Our crew had an awesome time at Furniture Market last week! Uncovered, the new line of outdoor upholstery for Lee Industries was a hit! We're all SO excited about it!

The great thing about these pieces is that they are completely designed to be outdoors. They are constructed to weather the elements and sophisticated enough to go inside! Fabrics are fade, stain, water, UV and mildew resistant while frames are designed to drain.

These new items can be seen on Lee's website (www.leeindustries.com) under New Introductions.

The seat deck slopes to the rear with drainage built into the frame.

This reticulated, open cell foam is used in the cushions and seat deck. It allows water to drain through & is mildew resistant!

Come by Charlotte's shop to see our new antiques from Europe! I can't get over the beautiful pieces!!! This shipment is a wonderful collection of antiques, lighting & accessories. We're also thrilled about a new line of current accessories from Europe that Jane and Cindy found while searching for antiques.

Shipment items will probably arrive in Birmingham at the end of the week!

The entire shop has been transformed...LITERALLY! Shipment day is crazy/ fun because we take everything out of the shop and set up an entire new shop with our new antiques intermixed! We were lucky it didn't rain on Monday!

Meet Arevat!

We are so lucky to have Arevat Manucharova working with us! She is our expert seamstress who has a workroom upstairs at our shop. Arevat moved from Armenia to Charlotte 17 years ago and has worked at Circa for the last 12 years! All of our custom pillows for clients as well as our shop are crafted by Arevat. Her talents don't stop at pillows; she makes dustskirts, bedcovers, slipcovers, tablecloths, tableskirts, and seat cushions! I think it's safe to say that she is the Queen of Pillows!

Healthy Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats

I just got an email today from Self Magazine with this recipe & I thought it looked delish! They say it's on the healthy side, as well!

(Makes about 80 treats - great for a crowd)

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons unsalted butter; 3 tablespoons light butter; 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder;

2 bags (10 oz each) mini-marshmallows; 10 cups crisp rice cereal; 1/2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips; Vegetable cooking spray

Preparation:

Combine butters and cocoa in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Melt butter, whisking until mixture is well combined. Stir in marshmallows, melting them completely. Remove pan from heat and stir in cereal, working quickly before marshmallow mixture sets. Stir in chocolate chips. Coat hands with cooking spray and shape mixture into about 80 walnut-sized balls. Place balls on a baking sheet and let harden for about an hour. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 days. (Do not refrigerate.)

Per Self Magazine: 54 calories per rice crispy; 1.4 g fat (0.9 g saturated); 9.9 g carbs; 0.2 g fiber;0.3 g protein

Custom Headboards

Custom headboards create a sense of focus in the bedroom as well as add some warmth. Circa designers love to create shape with custom styles, create depth with tufting, and create interest with nailheads. Check out a few recent headboards that we've created!

Julie created this arched headboard with nailheads for her master bedroom!

Designer Catherine Walters created a pair of these handsome twin headboards for a client. The nailheads and the cut-out detail definitely give them an edge.

Monogramming a headboard can be great for any age and with a change in script can be masculine or feminine! This is one that Patrick did for a client in a home at the beach.

(These next few photos were taken during an installation in the setting up phase, so excuse their lack of pillows!)

This twin bed headboard creates drama with its height...a great look that's not custom but has a great design.

A wonderful way to envelop a bed and create a TON of warmth in a bedroom is to create a bed hanging surrounding the headboard. This gives the room a great deal of drama and allows for a major focal point in the room. This is one that Cindy created for a client's mountain home.

Upholstered wooden headboards are also FAB!
