Interior Canvas: The Enduring Child's Room

The newest blog on Interior Canvas's website features one of our very talented designers Catherine Walters, along with works from some of our other designers, entitled "The Enduring Child's Room".  Catherine's attention to detail has known to aid in the creation of crisp, clean interiors.

This particular blog discusses some of Catherine's ideas on how to timelessly design your child's space, avoiding having to redecorate their room every few years until they move out.  Being a mother herself, she learned to do this by looking at the initial furnishings as pieces that can be adapted into older children's spaces over time. Some of her favorite pieces are revealed in the blogpost, such as an inexpensive crib.  Catherine uses timeless colors to avoid lots of color changes, but brings in color through accessories and toys. For more sensible tips on how to decorate, as well as inspirational pictures, check out Interior Canvas's blog: http://interiorcanvas.com/2013/09/the-enduring-childs-room/

Traditional Home

If you have run across the October issue of TraditionalHome, I am sure you did not miss the major article towards the back of the magazine entitled “Dreamy Indulgences”.  This article takes you room to room throughout the gorgeous Adamsleigh Estate in Greensboro, North Carolina, unveiling visions of the finest in furniture and design.  Adamsleigh, a 22 room mansion lying on 13.5 acres, is one of the largest and most famous homes in the city.  It was designed by Winston-Salem based Luther Lashmit in 1929.  Today, “it is considered to be North Carolina’s second most impressive house, behind Biltmore in Asheville.” (http://www.robertbrowninteriordesign.com/adamsleigh_showhouse.html)

On page 121, you will come across a sophisticated and rustic “Gentleman’s Retreat” on the lower level, designed by our very own Patrick Lewis and Cindy Smith.  “It would have been an impossible task to lighten the windowless room, so we chose to embrace the dark vibe,” Cindy says.  For more on the house and the various seating areas in the Gentleman's Retreat, grab your own copy of the latest Traditional Home.

The Book Signing Has Not Slowed Down!

Last week, the fabulous Jane and Cindy spent the night in Linville, NC at the beautiful home of Jim & MA Rogers for yet another book signing party.  They have countless supporters up there, many of whom were eager to not only grab a signed book, but to see Cindy’s incredible talents throughout the Rogers new home in the tree tops.  The owners did not have a completely smooth drive up the mountain, as one of their car’s wheels had a blowout while they were driving up the curvy mountain roads! Fortunately, Jane's husband was right behind them to come to the rescue, and they made it just in time for the party to begin!

The following morning, they drove up to Cashiers for yet another book signing in Interior Designer Francie Hargrove's shop.
